Summer

Summer is probably the best time of the year to visit Prague. The temperatures between June and August are incredibly pleasant. The average temperature during most of the summer is around 73 F. Mild rain is also not uncommon during July and August. If it doesn’t rain during the day, some thunderstorms might appear at the afternoon. You should also know that some days during the summer can get hot at Prague. However, you do not have to worry. By hot, we mean no more than 86 F usually. While this is considered hot, it is not dangerous hot.

If you are going to Prague on summer, you can pack all your summer clothes. Shorts, sandals and shirts are perfectly fine. However, you should get an umbrella when you get there, just in case it rains. Maybe a light jacket or raincoat wouldn’t be an exaggeration. But, generally speaking, you can expect great weather in Prague at summer.

Fall

Fall comprises the months of September, October and November. If you are travelling to Prague, you should know that the cold starts during fall. The first half of September you can encounter weather similar to the summer. Pleasant warm during the day and occasional rains during the night. However, as soon as October begins, the days start to get cold. It is rare to have a day in October in Prague where the temperature is above 59 F. During November, the first snowfalls start to appear and the temperature drops to a max. of 43 F.

If you are going to Prague on fall, you should take coats and jackets. Even if you find a pleasant warm day, you can just leave them at your hotel. If you encounter a snowy day, you will be thankful you brought them with you. This usually depends on the month, as you can see above. During September, you have greater chances of having a warm day. During November, however, it can get a little cold. Besides, you shouldn’t rely too much on the month. Remember that the weather is always unpredictable and anything can happen. Especially if you have enough room in your suitcase, you should bring a couple of “just in case” items. You won’t regret it if you have a cold day.

Prague Weather in Winter

Finally, the winter. Everyone knows that the winter is cold. However, Prague can get really cold during winter. If you are visiting Prague between December and February, you should be prepared for the winter Prague weather.

All throughout the winter, the average temperature in Prague is below freezing. The days are usually gray and snow is very common. Although the snow is usually light, you should definitely be prepared. Especially if you come from a warm country. You should know that Prague also can get affected by Siberian cold masses during winter. When this happens, we are talking about dangerously cold. There are registers of temperatures going as low as -8 F in 2012, for example. This situation usually happens during February.

The bottom line is that you should bring heavy coats and clothes for the cold. Regardless of the month you are travelling on, you should come prepared. Winter boots, scarfs, coats, sweaters, gloves and hats are recommended. This might sound excessive, but remember that below freezing is indeed very cold. If you find yourself comfortable without them, you can take them off. However, you wouldn’t want to be freezing and not have them with you.PixaBay
